One of the things I saw a lot of on social media last night after the Knicks won the Eastern Conference Finals and advanced to the NBA Finals: “I wish Modell’s stores were still around.” Modell’s would have made a small fortune last night from Knicks stuff had they stayed in business and still had the stores in New York and New Jersey. During college, I was an employee from 2005-2007 in Toms River. The closest championship run I saw was in 2006 when the Mets got to the NLCS. I got to briefly see the Mets NLCS shirts before I had to pack them back up and send them away. I also remember being in the Toms River store the night the Yankees won the World Series back in 2009 and again when the Giants won the Super Bowl in 2012. Those were some really fun nights. It’s so much different with everything on Fanatics now.
