This day 10 years ago the first @HarrogateBrewCo pint was sold at @The_Old_Bell Harrogate. We don’t own the brewery anymore but immensely proud it’s still going strong. Happy Birthday Harrogate Brewery! 🍻
@zythophiliac@totalcurtis@pelliclemag@PeteBrownBeer We’ll it influenced me! And a few other brewers I talked to around that time, and I started a brewery in 2013 (sold it in 2020). Some of my 5.6% - 5.9% UK hopped brews from that time were definitely influenced by that beer.
@totalcurtis@pelliclemag@PeteBrownBeer Great article, yes, read excellent Hops & Glory. As an ex brewer/brewery owner I believe White Shield greatly influenced many UK brewers, producing beers that influenced the US brewers who influenced the mid 2000 to present UK brewers. More than a historical note in my view!
@thestrayferret Will end up having a years worth of delays on this road - imagine the extra pollution created! We need more intelligent planning please @northyorkscc
@thestrayferret £165k for a website? Would love to see who tendered for this, if it was an open tender process and what the comparable quotes were. It’s our money after all...
Good morning. This ^Andy, seeking an inquiry into the length of the weekend which seemed much shorter than usual. The HBC Twitter desk is up and running for a new week. Have a good day! 👍
@MarcDavenant My first job was in a b&w lab in London in the late 1980’s and the pro printers made dodging and burning an art form, getting the very best out of each negative. Later when I was a photographer and went digital I used the same techniques to get the best out of each digital image.
@montyrakusen@JimScarratt Once left a tripod behind a Copenhagen office door, forgot, drove back to uk. Went to same location 3 years later, dusty tripod still there.
@JimScarratt Many years ago my assistant lost one of his flip flops from the roof of his car. 2 years later he broke down at the same place and there was the flip flop and he still had the odd one in his car!
@thestrayferret The council sold this beautiful building because they thought it uneconomical to update to modern office standards, then spent millions of Harrogate tax payers money building new offices which now are barely used. A private company would have sacked its MD for such incompetence.
New plans for Harrogate Borough Council's former offices at Crescent Gardens have been revealed. They include a rooftop restaurant, offices and a gym.
