Little Walter was the prototype for all harp players that came after him. His amplified approach took the instrument places it had never been before, and defined how the instrument was to be played for everyone that followed.

Thinking of Little Walter on his birthday today. Born Marion Walter Jacobs, he’s the only artist to ever hit number one on the charts with a harmonica instrumental.
