I’m truly pleased that the official release date for the European physical edition of RePOP has been announced. Over the past three years, I’ve learned just how highly many Western gamers value having game data stored directly on a physical edition. This is particularly important in the case of Lollipop Chainsaw, as the original digital version was suddenly removed from sale in 2017. In that context, being able to play offline using a physical copy takes on real significance. Looking at the market as a whole, I believe the trend of digital editions continuing to surpass physical ones will remain unchanged. However, considering how much committed gamers around the world value physical ownership, I’ve come to once again recognize the importance of continuing to release Japanese-developed games in physical format overseas.
