@Aphrohditee @crunchycozygirl @RachelToRome That was one of the big reasons for becoming. (I can't really use converting because I wasn't raised as 'anything' but in my later teens I attended Mass fairly regularly. My Son receiving 1st communion was the final 'shove' I needed).

Fr. Mike Schmitz in usual manner of using simple words to explain things for us has once again explained what "Amen" means when we are told by the priest or Deacon, "Body of Christ" or "Blood of Christ." Well, first, it's not just "some guy". He is a priest who has been given authority to (John 20:23) to forgive sins. It doesn't mean that He himself if Christ, it means He has been given authority to forgive or not to forgive in Jesus' name. Can I go directly to Jesus in prayer, absolutely. But when I confess to a disciple of Christ, right in front of me, a person who is filled with the Holy Spirit and the great commission, it feels so much more personal and it takes a LOT of courage to tell a person on earth who is sitting in front of you the things you are truly ashamed of. Nobody is stainless, do you think you have to completely forgiven of every single thing before you die to go to heaven? No one is in a perfect state of grace....my past sins do not take away my love and my connection to heaven and Christ.

I actually go to one so what I am experiencing is not what you are talking about. I assume you mean because we believe the Eucharist is the body and blood of Christ that makes us "pseudo-cannibals"...it's probably the same reason that when Jesus said "unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink His blood, you do not have life in you". You as well as many of his followers left him that day, as they misunderstood as probably do. I'm not a theologian but you can look this up and it is completely valid....and the Catholics truly revere and preserve Jesus' word. I believe all pedos should pay for their crimes, no matter where they are.

Well, I'm certain that we live in a fallen world and there are broken people...even in the church. Everywhere you look in schools, families (I myself was molested by a family member), government,,,everywhere there are people, there is sin. I started as an atheist and had a hatred and cynicism same as you....i am now becoming Catholic at Easter Vigil along with my entire family. I have never felt such peace, love and acceptance than at this parish. I am so sorry you have been hurt and are disillusioned by the world. I feel like you may have this preconceived notion because you are being lied to to keep you from the true love of Christ....but I don't know you, I'm just guessing. I hope that you find the same peace that I have found in the Catholic Church ❤️
