@VuDxja I agree, and I feel like it was obvious who the shadow was (we'd seen silhouettes before and the scientist's reaction to cc on tv) without having to reveal him like that.

@ApolloAmong I liked the thematic explanation for Captain Clark, but once they did that it removed the sense of what makes the backrooms scary. Something that did it similar but was successful was Silent Hill 2. Seeing Pyramid head didn’t stop the game from being terrifying.

@UltmtDestroyr Honestly i liked the dinner scene and thought it was a pretty interesting exploration of the characters. I just feel like it has been obvious for a while that the creature was the pirate mascot and there was no need to present him to us in 4k

The movie was so good until Clark kidnaps Mary. For most of the movie we feel like we are alone in the backrooms and I was pissing myself waiting for a monster. I was terrified when they went down the hole with the rope. But the moment I met the monsters they weren't that scary

This is confusing the Backrooms with liminal horror, which is based off the unease and dread we feel looking at liminal spaces. They have similarities, but the original 4chan post mentions a creature lurking inside, separating it from pure liminal horror.
