On this day in 1926, Arthur C. Comey & Robert L.M. Underhill made the first recorded ski ascent of Mount Katahdin via the Great Basin. Comey completed the entire climb and descent on skis—reaching the summit in about 4 hours. A milestone in early American ski mountaineering. 🎿
