I dunno if you wanna call it a feature or a bug but I do remember this moment having a lot of controversy back in the day. And it’s funny because it telegraphs Part 2 as a whole. Establishes the pattern of an arc abruptly ending, in a sudden anticlimactic way where Denji has little to no agency in its resolution, likely losing something in the process and the story “resets” to a faux-status quo where it feels like the arc didn’t actually push things forward. A pattern that Fujimoto sticks to until the very end. That’s why the “Fujimoto got bored/it got axed” claims are funny to me. No this nigga is just insane and told the whole saga like that 😭

When I watched Look back by Fujimoto I wished this was the real ending, I didn't care that it "ret conned" the main characters relationships , cause they were both alive and could make new memories, chainsaw man gave its characters a second chance at being happy, good ending.
