@RichardJuice Maniac Cop has a violent sequence dedicated to public panic after word of a rogue cop is leaked. Therefore, w/ fully rounded storytelling, one must accept the conclusion Maniac Cop > Jaws. It's just plain maths.

One of my favorites of Walter's reviews is for a very upsetting movie. Maybe worth a rewatch now that I have something to grapple with.
Walter@MovieDweller
@_DavidMorrell My humble defense of 5. Which is, yes, unlike the rest. boxd.it/eCU5fh

@MovieDweller The last decade of the millenium could have been such a powerhouse of enthusiasm too. Then... i dont know... Nirvana walked through the door or something. Bitter cynicism everywhere.

@AVARY Tubi's got a big collection of Pyun I've been slowly getting through. Everything he did from 1980 - 1995ish has looked really really great. Alien from LA, Dollman, Cyborg, Nemesis!
English

@JohnDemetry @MovieDweller Does it have a school stalker scene? Scorsese's black forest was freaky. Original had that fake-out boiler room chase.

@HunterDuesing The most working class Bond? Dalton just looked like a deep sea fisherman to me. Both seemed really scaled down. Babes, badguys, and stunts all seemed too small, except for TLD beginning wargame.
I'm not familiar with Flemmings books tho, so I'm the problem.

Two very fun movies, too bad he didn't get a proper run
Mike David@mikemovies
What's your opinion of Timothy Dalton's two outings as 007? 🤔
English

@GalloRespecter Damn, haven't seen that movie, but I can't imagine there's much in common... Unless your pulling a Jim on me.

English

@Appylon Based on the J. Con movie? I still need to see that.
English

@asukahomo Sorry, not really in line with your request, but very curious if you've read McInerney's Ransom? Have to take the opportunity to ask.

Great point about the absolute banality of messages from the stars. I remember reading that book late at night and getting creeped out at the way the entities/aliens/whatever seemed to be deliberately bamboozling the author with nonsense that seemed calculated to drive him crazy.
charon from Heaven@Tender_Morsel
This is a theme that has been present in UFO literature and lore for a long time. In "The Mothman Prophecies" John Keel details the edicts passed on to contactees and it's all super banal, bland kindergarten classroom-type platitudes. "Peace, tolerance, equality, love each other"

@GalloRespecter If you still have any time left, one more that came to mind is Etoile. Killed off after one season though so obv not everyone's tea.

@Appylon I love a zom rom com! (Actually, the most recognized ones, I don't, but I love the *idea* of one.)

@HunterDuesing What a press roll out this guy had in the last 24 hr. Impressively obnoxious.

He’s doing a TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE movie lol

Curry Barker’s advice for studios trying to cater to Gen Z: “I wish they understood that we’re tired of slop. We want good movies back. People are still hungry for movies that are original without some big IP, as long as the story is good.”
