#1) Exiting the vehicle isn’t optional…there’s Supreme Court precedent on this exact topic. #2) The cop was a prick for tasing to begin with (hurt feelings), but extending it to inflict pain is def. criminal. #3) No, there shouldn’t be restrictions on the taser to prevent repeat firing. If you did that, and the first jolt didn’t work, cops would need to go for their gun instead.

Runnels then handcuffed him, dragged him, and dropped him face-first onto the pavement, leading to cardiac arrest, oxygen deprivation, severe brain damage, and a medically induced coma. Masters nearly died but survived with lasting effects. Runnels pleaded guilty to federal civil rights violation and got 4 years in prison. The family was awarded awarded $6.5 million. The officer was clearly in the wrong with how long he tased the young man. Do you think these devices should have an automatic off after a few seconds and a 30-60 second window before it would work again to prevent this from happening again?
