After six months in ambulance services, I've advanced to become a newly qualified Paramedic 2. Yet, upon reflecting on this period, I find myself pondering our professional identity as Paramedics. Does our professional action truly reflect our identity? If it does, then my experiences over the past six months have primarily involved primary care/mental health care, diverging from the emergency care focus identity that was taught to me in university & what is portrayed on programs like Ambulance and 999 on & emergency TV shows. 🤔🚑 #NHS #Ambulance #London #Paramedic #Healthcare #Primarycare

Riding in London is scary sometimes, but first-time booking over time & I was in Newham last night and 2 minutes away from Newham Ambulance station when I got jumped and attacked before my night shift… 🥲

5 weeks of Operational Placement (OPC) completed as a NQP ✅ I am grateful for the support from my band 6 paramedic mentors, learning local policies and guidelines and having a mentor to support and encourage me in my development has been so crucial. I don't know how other ambulance services run their NQP inductions, but OPC has to be one of the most supportive, encouraging in developing safe and effective NQP #ambulance #London #paramedic #NQP #NHS #medical

And just like that, three weeks of induction over… the bridge between university paramedic students to NQP has genuinely been a straightforward process. Going over all maternity, paediatrics, ALS, drugs management & ECGs and local policy has helped with impostor syndrome! I have met some incredible NQP, AAP and tremendous educational Paramedic teachers on this journey! Next step OPC!🚑

I’ve learned to accept my anxiety diagnosis it’s bitter but I think I’m learning to just realise that it’s not my fault and it’s something I can’t control
