Had a friend in London whose dad was a proper cockney gangster who owned a bunch of porn shops in Soho (this was a thing back in the pre-internet days). A pair of junkies started mugging his customers outside the shops, probably bc they suspected the customers would not report being mugged in such a dodgy area to the police. He had a couple of his guys lay in wait for the junkies, grab them, tie them up, throw them in the back of a van, strip them naked, and drive them up to John O'Groats (the further northern point of Scotland) and kick them out of the van. Supposedly never heard from them again.

Why? - mix of optimism for resolution - re routing, switching like coal switching or ethylene switching - 🔑 🔑 🔑 the refusal of commodity bros/ 🐂 to recognize their bias, that demand destruction occurs on a continuum. For example, $150+ / $200+ Brent / WTI maybe is major demand destruction in the U.S. / West … but for other Asia, weaker economies, they already hit demand destruction. …. The 20 mbpd headline number is not true demand and “lost barrels” that need to be “made up” do not exist. Shock happens, shock 😳, activity / growth stops 🛑 along a continuum. 🔑 🔑 👇 … no one can give you an exact number, but some estimates suggest that of the 20% commodities coming out, half is subject to elastic demand destruction today.

Selling a covered call does not "generate income". It represents cash proceeds from reducing your position (the functional equivalent to selling), and paying a massive bid-ask spread to do so.

@JohnDoeKnowsGuy Yes. I read so much Buffett and had already mapped out my future wealth compounding in my head. I never factored in that 1) savings will go to kids coding, swimming, baseball etc 2) kids need time, lots of it The days are long, but NOT a SINGLE FREAKING REGRET!!!

Friend of mine is 35 years old, married and doesn’t want kids. His household income is roughly $300k/yearly and his house is nearly paid off. They invest a good portion of their income for retirement, take multiple yearly vacations and live a nice life. I think people like this are going to regret not having kids in their future. One day when he’s old all he will have to look back on is the random stuff he bought and wasted money on. Instead of putting that money towards having kids and building a family he’s choosing consumerism. This just seems so wasteful and boring to me.

Just a hunch, the way that $CSR bounced $6-7 recently post cease fire makes me think some sort of deal or major asset sale is imminent. I’ve noticed this with $VRE and $WSR recently. I think there are some bankers, lawyers, consultants trading on it likely. Again, nothing concrete. Just a hunch. Too positive on no news.
