On this blessed #MothersDay, I find myself reflecting on the selfless love & wisdom of my own mother. Her faith has been my guiding light, her love, my strength. To all mothers, thank you for the love you give so freely. May God’s blessings be upon you today and always.

#InternationalWomensDay is a moment when we should pause and reflect on how we all can honor our mothers, sisters, and daughters. The contributions of women have such a vast range that, especially in the Church, we must seek greater inclusion so that their gifts manifest.

Celebrating the Sunday of Orthodoxy at the Sacred Center of our Faith, the Ecumenical Patriarchate, is a special privilege and honor. May we always preserve the Faith once delivered to the Saints, the Faith that has established the Oikoumene!

I continue to follow the reports of the tragic loss of so many in the horrific train crash in Greece. Let us open our hearts to grieve and offer comfort to the families, and pray for the eternal peace of the victims as well as the speedy recovery of the injured.

2023 has barely begun and we have already had 39 mass shootings in our country, with over 1200 gun deaths in the first 24 days of the New Year. We hear so much about the “right to life,” yet we deny life by allowing WMDs to abound. We must find a better way. All life is precious.

Meeting with the internationally renown @S_Calatrava today, the design architect of the Saint Nicholas National Shrine, we reflected on the moment of lighting the Church for the 9/11 commemorations. Santiago has truly captured the spirit of his inspiration, Hagia Sophia.
