@EPM106 The only great television that flopped its finales are like, all the Genndy Tartakovsky shows, but none of the finales really mattered that much anyway since he doesnt really do or excel at serialized tv. In general I think for most really great tv the finales dont matter so much

@emilyis_emilies Big agree. Particularly, PB and Marceline really didnt need to keep having their characters expounded upon. I love em, enjoyed Obsidian, but theyre just less interesting as their core conflicts were pretty much resolved by the end of the original series.

Simon’s story is executed perfectly but, by giving it so much focus, it undermines the message of the original series. it’s still clinging on to Ooo, to the past, to Finn and Jake, to Princess Bubblegum. and while i loved both seasons, i kept thinking about this throughout

the finale to Adventure Time has an exchange that i still think about: “What happened to Phil and Jake after that?” “Or Princess Bubblegum?” “Oh, you know, they kept living their lives.” it hits the core of the episode perfectly, but i don’t think the writers took it to heart
