does anyone with executive functioning issues use any type of software or online tool that you like to stay organized? I need something to help me remember to do all the stages of the task, with reminders to do the next stage when you finish? I know nothing but need organization.

Aoife came home yesterday, so I’m even less likely to be on social media. But damn it she’s absolutely adorable, even if she kept me up all night.

I am very tired and verging on burnt out at work (don’t worry, my boss and I have solutions!) but meet the new archives corgi, Aoife. No one will ever replace Skye, but this little girl is helping us heal from Skye’s loss (and she’s not even home yet!)

Just heard that the donor of a collection I processed earlier this year was super pumped about the finding aid I wrote for his stuff, and that warms the cockles of my cold dead heart. Yes, your stuff was a thorn in my side for 5 months, but my work is appreciated!

this data together without having to manually compare 2 giant spreadsheets, and I'm pretty sure that is not the actual answer here...but I have next to no experience working with data.

Is anyone even still on Twitter and if so, do any of you know if it is possible to run a report in Archivists' Toolkit (I know) using the search page to sort by instance type, then including the box number of said instance in a report? I'm coming up short on how to get all (ctd)

To be fair, if I had been trying to explain his job, it would have been something like "he manages projects and there are things about cars. I think he works in audio? I have no idea, there's a lot of meetings and talking. A lot of it is in Japanese."

Over the weekend my partner was trying to explain my job to friends who don't really know what I do, and he said "she inputs the finding aids into the Archivist Toolbox" and I just found this description so endearing and adorable.

My husband doesn't read books and while I always thought I'd end up with someone who read as voraciously as I do...I clearly did not, and that's ok! He has other things that keep him occupied, and I have other people in my life to discuss books with. Still love him.

Also hi, I now have 2 staff reporting to me. I can't keep up on any form of social media because grief is hard and I'd rather spend my energy taking care of my life than doomscrolling. Someone tell me if ArchivesTwitter moves to another platform.

My dream as a manager is to have staff who know more about the work being done than I do. I need to know Something about the work to make sure it's being done correctly and give advice. But whenever I discover my staff is more knowledgeable than me? I am filled with GLEE.

You know what's great? I delegated this to my first staff member. And he's doing a much better job planning and supervising the project than I would have!

I only asked because it will take me approximately 6 hours to figure it all out, and would likely take him half an hour. Love is weird.

I asked my husband if he'd make me a spreadsheet that would let me run numbers for the student program budget automatically, and he replied with a screen of "omgomgomgomgomgomg," so I'd say that I married a giant nerd who is an Excel wizard.
