@Jonatha29997038 @TolkienWorldG In the book, they were known as the "Pillars of the Kings" and Frodo mistook them for pillars at a distance. The arms were likely not outstretched at all.

In the films, the statues are of Isildur and his father, Elendil. In Tolkien’s books, they are Isildur and his brother, Anárion.
Fun fact: Peter Jackson wanted them to resemble Aragorn, so he modelled their faces on Viggo Mortensen’s real-life father and grandfather. Viggo didn’t learn this until the premiere, shortly after his grandfather had passed. He called it an honourable legacy.

@ArdaCraft_ The issue is studio budget, not feasibility. Huge open worlds already exist. Middle-earth could be done justice with Tolkien lore/maps experts involved. Just look at Minecraft players recreating vast overviews of it.

1) no source - there is a LOTR game in development but confirmed details are nonexistent
2) AI slop image - doesn't represent any location in Middle-earth
3) there is a reason open world games are constrained - doing all of Middle-earth is not possible

@juansev00 Middle-earth is an entire continent with a huge array of locations/cultures far beyond anything that any singleplayer game has ever come close to showing.
LOTRO has only been able to do it by being in active development for nearly 20 years and they still don't have everything.

@ArdaCraft_ I believe it could be more like the witcher 3 open world, we will get multiple large maps to explore each one set in a different region of middle earth, I don't think it will be one massive open world map, not unless they heavily scaled it down, would love to be wrong
