Let’s see what the track finalists are working on: 🫁 @AreteMedTech (🇬🇧): Developing a low-cost, portable, web-connected, and rapid-use platform for testing lung inflammation, obstruction, and narrowing, enabling earlier intervention for chronic lung diseases like asthma.

While guidelines have shifted towards this and the view is now pretty widely viewed as the way things should be done, there is still work to do on the way things are done. What is preventing the shift? thelancet.com/journals/lance…

Great to see long-awaited harmonization of guidelines between different groups, and the recognition of FeNO's critical role alongside spirometry. Hopefully, this will come with funding to GP's to support adopting this!

70 is mid-life! But true most chronic disease start 20-30 years before we detect them and handle at substantially higher costs too late. But that would kill a trillion dollar "free market" if we detected them early. God forbid we find drugs that "cure" diseases instead of getting lifetime patient subscriptions by just managing symptoms! Cures just starting to happen in some genomic medicine etc.
The Wall Street Journal@WSJ

Midlife, not your 70s or 80s, is when brain changes start to occur that can pave the way toward dementia, according to a growing body of research. Intervening earlier to improve brain health might help you stay sharper as you age. on.wsj.com/3yRmRIs
