There are at least 10 songs that were more popular than Gongo Aso and Yahoozey in their time, but I will list just 5. When you are talking about songs that "shook Nigeria..." it has to be songs that everyone vibed to in every corner of the country. Shirley Nunn was 67 when she learned her cancer was terminal. For decades, she had cared for her severely disabled son, Stephen, who was 50 and could not live independently. In 2021, terrified of what would happen to him after she died, Shirley gave him a fatal overdose of medication. Then she took her own life. Their bodies were later found inside their home in Middlesbrough. Shirley had loved and cared for Stephen for years, but feared there would be no one to safely care for him once she was gone.

I studied political science as a minor in the university and this was one of the books that we read and referenced in one of the courses. Initially as young chaps this book infuriated us and we began to blame the west for our woes until we came across another book “How Africa Underdeveloped Africa”. Till date, I have no blames or fight with the Europeans. The time for blaming them is long gone. Now it is our evil leaders who are constantly looting and ravaging the continent. Sometimes I wonder if there’s really a problem with the black race because how can a whole continent have wicked leaders? Only the “white” part of the continent have major developments. Africans, it is your leaders that have ravaged you, not Europeans.

According to Lebanon’s latest health sector figures, now updated after the killing of additional paramedics in the last 48 hours: • 125 healthcare workers killed • 273 wounded • 149 attacks on the healthcare sector • 142 ambulances targeted • 32 medical centres destroyed • 16 hospitals forced out of service • 221 ambulance crews attacked Lebanon’s emergency sector is not collapsing accidentally. It is being systematically dismantled. Israel is committing war crimes against Lebanon’s medical services.
