Last weekend, I was at the wonderful Sorrento Writers’ Festival in Victoria. I had two wonderful opportunities to talk in 2x packed one hour interviews. In one, I participated with a team of experts including Prof Tori Mar, Jess Armstrong, and Paula Fox hosted by Dr Norman Swan to discuss the importance of sun safety for melanoma prevention and ways to diagnose and treat melanoma as early as possible so most people will be cured! We also discussed some of the amazing breakthroughs that have made significant improvements, including in outcomes in melanoma (& many other cancers). We also talked a bit about my own journey as well. It was fun & plenty of to & fro including with an amazing audience. In a separate 1 hour interview, hosted once again by the brilliant Dr Norman Swan, we discussed my own battle with brain cancer. He asked some fantastic questions, including some that were difficult, challenging & at times, very emotional– I had to stop talking once for what seemed like 30 seconds (& I heard there were many touched people in the audience too). We also discussed the importance of contributing to life with actions and fun. I was absolutely blown away by the friendliness, care and decency of the many hundreds of people there. Thank you all very much! @SorrentoWritFes @normanswan @SydneyLHD @Sydney_Uni @AllenAndUnwin @gmaddox #Brainstorm #glioblastoma #melanoma

@AneekaSimonis Hi again. It’s so disappointing to be ignored about this. This still hasn’t been amended despite emails and messages to you and your editors. The lede hasn’t been changed. Mindframe guidelines are clear and you as media have a duty to report responsibility.
