Latinas are still paid just 54¢ for every $1 earned by white, non-Hispanic men. This includes migrant, seasonal, part-time & gig workers. Organizing for change must include everyone. Today we demand action, accountability & justice. #LatinaEqualPay share.equalrights.org/s/qoCcek9x

10 years in the fight, more than 150 more to go—equal pay can’t wait. #LatinaEqualPay The wage gap costs Latina workers about $1.2 million over a 40-year career. At the current rate of change, Latinas won’t reach pay equity with White men until 2178—more than 150 years from now. The time for pay equity is long overdue. HillaryClinton: On average, Latinas make only $0.54 for each $1 white men earn. Time to close that gap. #LatinaEqu

A new study shows the federal PWFA's protections for workers in need of pregnancy accommodations reduced miscarriages by 9.6%, demonstrating how laws that empower expectant parents promote maternal & infant health while supporting families' economic security.

JUST IN: Tariffs are clearly hitting now. U.S. Inflation rises to 2.9% (y/y) in August-->up from 2.3% in April. Higher food, gas and shelter costs drove inflation up in August. Cars, apparel and airfares also saw costs surge. ***Inflation jumped 0.4% during the month, the highest monthly increase since January.*** (see bar chart below) Core inflation (excluding food and energy) was 3.1% (y/y) in August, up from 2.8% in the spring. #inflation #tariffs

New IWPR analysis shows the gender wage gap is worsening. In 2024, women working full-time year-round were paid just 80.9¢ for every $1 paid to men—down from 82.7¢ in 2023 and 84¢ in 2022. This marks the biggest drop since 1966 and the worst ratio since 2016. Read more from IWPR: iwpr.org/iwprs-new-nati…

Even in a strong economy, women are being left behind. New Census data shows men’s earnings once again grew faster than women’s in 2024—widening the wage gap for the second year in a row. This isn’t just about numbers. It’s about structural barriers—from reproductive health bans to workplace discrimination to limited access to higher-paying jobs—that especially harm women of color and those in part-time or lower-wage roles. The result? Thousands of dollars lost each year for women and their families. Read our full statement: iwpr.org/iwprs-new-nati…

Continued signs of a weakening labor market are evident in this month’s #JobsReport, just published by @BLS_gov. The labor market added only 22k jobs while unemployment went up slightly to 4.3% in July. Black and Latino/a workers are being hit hardest with rising unemployment.

Today we celebrate 105 years of the Department of Labor’s Women’s Bureau—the only federal agency dedicated solely to the needs of women in the workforce. As IWPR’s Chief Economist Dr. Kate Bahn told @MotherJones, “The Women’s Bureau has historically played a role in helping the [DOL] understand both the causes and consequences of economic trends like this, which can only be effectively addressed with timely research and policy analysis.” Here's to over a century of the Women's Bureau fighting for equity, and to the work still ahead to protect it and its mission.
