@ArklayEmbers The classic map on the left is just the city section where as the remake map is the entire game, it might not be a line but its still a quarter of the original city and without mods half of it is only accessible during the chase sequence

Yes RE3R had alot of wested potential to expand but please stop with the false narrative that the city in the remake was a line or a couple of streets when in reality here is the original city and remake city side by side

Even though I liked the main characters the acting (young and older) was always hit or miss. I am sad that it didn't get a second season because they just had to adjust a few things and it could have been a banger. I'm not sure if I prefer this or welcome to raccoon city.

@ArklayEmbers The best way to look at RE3R is that it's a re-imagining, I liked the game a lot but if you want a truly faithful RE3 remake then you'll never like it. You have to look at the OG and Remake as two different games.

I think it’s more an illustration of the linearity of the remake, like you don’t backtrack or explore as much of the city in Re3make n that’s where a lot of the vitriol against it stems from

@LukaMusics and wanting a more linear fast paced experience so that it doesn't get boring when you replay it. I see so many people complaining and criticising the slower parts of the games on future playthroughs or speedruns because theyre apparently not as fun once youve already done it

@LukaMusics Yeah I love backtracking in RE too, which is why Im such a fan of the big locations that act as the central hub of the game. Like the mansion, RPD, Baker House, Rhodes Hill. But I feel like alot of fans are torn between wanting that slower paced experience that has backtracking,

@TheSlimeRiley Being disappointed that some things arent in the remake is totally fair and understandable but yeah I think alot of people definitely underestimate just how short the og RE3 is. The city is often talked up as if its this huge open space when its not, you get through it so quickly

@LukaMusics On first playthrough of RE3R, there is alot of backtracking if you want it. There are multiple optional things to do (finding the gems, opening all the chains, using all the lockpics) but obviously upon completing, like with any game, those things suddenly become more strategic

@NickRandomowy Yeah thats fair. If the original game had the same gameplay and mobility as the remake, along with no load screens, it would feel just as short as the remake. The tank control movement and load screen doors every few seconds definitely help in making it feel longer

@ArklayEmbers The biggest problem with it is that there's too few required backtracking and indoor areas (with more puzzles and story items to fetch). On paper the city area isn't small, but given Jill's mobility and that most places are empty, you can run through it very quickly.

I can acknowledge that RE3R is nowhere near the same quality as the other remakes but lets not over exaggerate. The remake version of Raccoon City is great. Capcom releasing a demo of this area permanently damaged the game upon release

@ysztof1 The original re3 has its fair share of single routes and alleyways that lead to the objective. The path to the sales office, sub station, news office etc in the original were all single routes that took you from A to B

@ArklayEmbers The only part of RE3make map with actual exploration is the demo area around donut shop. The rest of this map is a linear corridor (kendo street, way to deimos, rocket launcher chase). Which is why remake city feels tiny because explorable part is tiny unlike og RE3
