😡 WAKE UP, CANADA! Gas prices just jumped 15¢/L since LAST Friday—now averaging 1.54/L nationwide, up from 1.32/L a week ago. And Trump's reckless war on Iran hasn't touched OUR oil supply AT ALL! The gas in your tank was refined WEEKS ago from oil extracted MONTHS ago—NONE of it through the Straits of Hormuz. So WHY are we getting SCREWED at the pumps?! We're the 4th largest oil producer in the world, churning out 5.9 million barrels/day. We EXPORT three-quarters of what we produce—mostly to the US and now Asia via Trans Mountain. We import ZERO from the Persian Gulf. Our production costs? UNCHANGED. Yet prices (and Big Oil profits) are skyrocketing because of a war HALFWAY around the world—just like in 2022 after Russia's Ukraine invasion. This ISN'T "market forces"—it's a POLICY CHOICE that's gonna trigger another vicious cycle of interest rate hikes, inflation, and economic slowdown. Remember 2022? That spike (from a war in a non-oil country) cost us $200B over 3 years—$12,000 PER HOUSEHOLD—while oil companies raked in $150B in after-tax profits in Canada alone. It drove 43% of our post-pandemic inflation, peaking at 8%. We CAN'T let this happen AGAIN!
