Just got a bottle of @DrinkVirgils Bavarian Nutmeg root beer to try and it was completely flat upon opening it. Not a hint of carbonation. Flavor was decent, but flat root beer is still flat root beer.

Went to @IHOP in American Fork, Utah last Friday and the waitress, Lee, made it a truly special occasion at a time when our party was commemorating a death in the family. Lee went above and beyond and made us all laugh. She was exactly what we needed right then.

@MicrosoftTeams Oh wait, a restart and this behavior goes away and I can log in with the proper account. Not sure how that makes sense…

@MicrosoftTeams, why does the new “work or school” edition specifically exclude logging in with a work or school account? Doesn’t that make it anything but what it claims to be?

@MicrosoftTeams I wasn't using an educational version, but a work one. Should I still contact your Education Support team?

I heard afterward she had a copy of a group photo from it and stuck a dart through my face. Also, when the group went for milkshakes on the date, I got one with a plastic spoon blended up in it.

Blind date on Hallowe’en. She dresses up in 60s clothes, so I did my best late 60s outfit as well. She complained to the person who set us up that I was a weirdo for dressing that way: She somehow didn’t realize I would wear a customer too. 🤷🏻 #WorstFirstDate @jimmyfallon

The extinct Australian gallinule Gallinula disneyi was named for former Curator of Birds at the Australian Museum Henry John de Suffren Disney. And there was me trying to remember an animated rallid from a movie - of which there might be precisely 0. #birds #rallids #rails

@gamesl10n @Palle_Hoffstein Sounds about right, and not just for games. Most groups don't take I18n seriously until they have a catastrophic failure for reasons like this.

@Palle_Hoffstein SS: Adding localization after Beta, realizing your game can't do multibyte, right to left or anything longer than English, and you already blew your budget on shoving coke up influencers' arses with an industrial fan.

@SurveyMonkey Bug in advanced branching logic: The system randomly switched between absolute and relative numbering of questions and sometimes shows “none of the above” as C1 and sometimes as the last C in the series. This makes debugging sketchy.

@StavroulaSokoli A lot of MT researchers are really ML researchers, not language researchers. It shows in what they are interested in and what data they consider important.

@DaleSchultz @ThinkingAtheist @onlyskymedia The cynic in me says that it’s so the state can control religions because it becomes the funder. Not too different from how tax-exempt status is (unsuccessfully) used in the US to keep some sort of leash on religions. But make them a client and they often take over.

If the Galactica example is “hallucination”, then we have a serious problem, because it is the system *working as designed*, not some malfunction. By contrast, the ChatGPT one has a stopping point built in to keep it from running too far with the data.

One major difference between #Galactica and #ChatGPT: When ChatGPT doesn’t have relevant training data, it tells you so; When Galactica doesn’t, it just makes stuff up that seems reasonable. One team thought about #ResponsibleAI, the other seemingly didn’t.
