If don't like at least one of the first three Resident Evil games, or haven't played them at all, you aren't actually a fan of the series. Remakes don't count, even for the first one.

@lightning_kf RE4 remake is better. The original was a generational game and in many ways a masterpiece, but the remake still outdoes it.

You're not a "fan" if you only watched someone else play the games. And don't try to drag sports, TV shows and movies into this. Gaslighting, that doesn't work here. I'm a Resident Evil 4 fan cause I played the original first and the remake second, the original is better.

If there was a button to skip the combat, would your argument for it be that it's ok, because you didn't use it?

adding an auto-sort button might be one of the worst things RE4R did it just removes all of the satisfaction from sorting your inventory this was like crack to me in the original

Resident Evil 2 Remake had bad combat, butchered the lore, butchered the characters, butchered Mr. X, removed content, and was at best a beautiful to look at mess. People defended that game like they were in a cult. The next remake was even worse. Then they did the same thing to the RE4 remake which people will only attest to liking if they're being honest because of nostalgia. Therein lies the problem. There is no nostalgia for RE1. It wasn't as good or deep as 2. It wasn't as iconic as 3. it wasn't as industry defining as 4. So the emotionally driven people are not interested in it. If they remade 1 with the mechanics of 9, it'd be an exceptional remake. I'm more interested in the quasi open world RE: Code Veronica game.

Call me a tourist, I really don't care. I have played the RE1 HD Remaster of the Gamecube remake. It is very good. But absolutely no amount of Resident Evil purists screaming in my ear will convince me that this game getting the same treatment the RE2 Remake got would be a bad thing. In fact, I think this game on the RE Engine in modern packaging would be even BETTER than the RE2 Remake. Give me Spencer Mansion in "over the shoulder slop" form please. I'll eat it up.

@tubby_blumkins @iamrobtv It does need a "sLoP" remake. REmake is nearly a quarter century old at this point. And as good as it was, it was far from perfect.
