I’m not entirely certain but I think this is a courting behaviour between these two tree crickets? Are these identifiable?

Could someone tell me where I would figure out if there were other snow wasps to help identify the one I have? I don’t know that much about wingless wasps in general and certainly haven’t heard of finding wasps in the snow.

As a bonus this means I have 1 more order for my cryophile list!

Here’s a picture of a Cryophilic 1mm wasp. It is flat and I found it crawling on the snow. I mistook it for a snow scorpionfly because I had never seen one. I don’t know what to do with it it’s alive in my fridge until at least tomorrow.

Today I’m sharing what I would consider a ‘Fan Favourite’ amongst ants. These are weaver ants, Oecophylla smaragdina. I’m sure many of my followers will know something about weaver ants, but there’s so many interesting things about this species.

Crematogaster queen Flagging. Picture from Kentucky in September, but I first saw this in Papua New Guinea during ant course. I had never observed ant queens flagging like this.
