@Oliveira2077 I am a little baffled as to how you could look at the use of visual storytelling to intentionally juxtapose characters and situations and decide to proclaim to the world, "this could just be laziness". Not every insipid thought is worth sharing.

Why are we meant to connect Misato looking at her "two sons" and shouting up at an awakened Eva "Go for it, Shinji-kun! Do what YOU want to make YOUR wish come true!" to Second Impact? Well, I'm sure there's a very good reason.

If your instinct is "the scene order is totally incidental", notice how the first shot in Misato's quarters lingers upon a globe. A globe with a pre-Second Impact axis, specifically...

@Mne912 I wrote the article. If "Their explanation basically boils down to Gendo telling us that H.I. was his idea so it’s him" was all you got from it, I'm not sure what to tell you. All you can do is put your ideas out there. People don't have to buy them.

@ArqaApocrypha So this article is well written & has a lot of research, but I disagree w/the author that the key is Dr.Katsuragi. Their explanation basically boils down to Gendo telling us that H.I. was his idea so it’s him.

@ArqaApocrypha I’d never heard that the key of Nebuchadnezzar was Misato’s father corpse. Would you mind explaining that to me?

@Mne912 He goes back to normal once Shinji breaks through his ATF, and from that point forward we start dealing with the identities inside Eva 13 (the ones that Shinji knows, anyway) one by one.

@Mne912 The way he talks starts shifting in the scene where he's infodumping at Misato and Ritsuko, too, so that's the first time we hear him after he uses the KoN. And then he goes on to join the party inside Eva 13, and soon he's talking like a shounen villain.

@Mne912 I'm kind of surprised this is getting as much engagement (for my standards) as it is. I guess other people thought it sounded weird too? Or was I just sufficiently humorous in my OP? I have no idea.

@O319Rn @htGOIW I feel like the problem is overstated a fair amount. I think I've basically cracked #24' at this point; it just relied on actually making use of a detail added to the DC episodes that everybody else was ignoring.

@ArqaApocrypha @htGOIW IMO it’s more that speculating NGE lore could have you running in circles when 95% episodes were written with different contexts, and it doesn’t seem like even Anno was sure up to the film releases. the e24 director’s cut “plot hole” could be explained by this, for example.

Anno himself once said that Evangelion lores have many hole and that some of them are intentional. I don't dislike discussing Evangelion lores, but I don't take it seriously. I don't believe that the creators had a solid plan.

@ArqaApocrypha That's what I meant. I was saying that if that line wasn't there, I could imagine some people arguing that it is a plothole that she did something independently. But that's why the line feels funny to me, it's there so that we absolutely know that it was an order.

@O319Rn @htGOIW I think it would have been more of a surprise if Lilith were planned from the start, TBH. So what exactly is the requirement here? Something must have been meticulously planned from the beginning with no improvisation, or it should not be taken seriously?

@ArqaApocrypha @htGOIW op’s shared texts before that aren’t so widely known regarding staff development, due to the language barrier. but one i distinctly remember was that the existence of Lilith in the 1995 series was a retcon and a last-minute idea by Anno - per staff confusion.
