The same pattern keeps repeating: Vlahović, Raphinha, Mudryk, Šeško, Nico Williams, now Morgan Rogers. Arteta identifies his number-one target. The club fails to land him. Some of those players have flourished, others haven’t - but that misses the point. Arsenal too often end up building around Plan B after spending too long chasing Plan A. When you’re trying to become the best team in the world, the margins are microscopic. Giving the manager the specific difference-makers he wants is not a luxury. It is one of the few remaining edges available at this level.

Re: Bruno Guimaraes Arsenal will not pay the £100m valuation for a player that will be 29 in few mths/2 yrs left on contract. So there is a likelihood of Guimaraes signing contract extension with Newcastle or joining another PL club. Arsenal will offer total package of £80m max.

If you think Morgan Rogers choice was governed by some footballing project then you are a naive football fan. It's all about the 250k per week for 6 years +1(£78m wage package over 6 years). Families, agents, advisers etc will go for Financial security as primary consideration.

Morgan Rogers is not worth £117m simple. Also, factor in wage package of 250k pw over 6 years contract, that is around £78million in wages over 6 years. Arsenal hierarchy were right to walk away.

Personal terms were not a issue for weeks yet we took our sweet time. Mikel wanted Rogers. They met face to face. Villa were angered with the way we handled informal talks amid a gap in valuation. Chelsea swooped in, we didnt match it. Read again ⬇️

£117m is insane until you look at Fernandes (£85m) Tonali (£100m), Anderson (£116m), and the fact Leipzig want €120m for Diomande and PSG would only entertain offers about that for Barcola. #Arsenal fans need to accept the market; Morgan Rigers was Mikel Arteta’s top target.

Like I said the truth would eventually come out. - Arsenal were not going to pay £117m fee( very rightly so) - Monetary considerations: 6 years + 1 contract/ around £250k per week contract i.e around £78million wage package over 6 years.
