When Embassy Court #Brighton opened in 1935 the ground floor waiting hall featured this mural by E McKnight Kauffer. It used photographic fragments, just like his posters for the #Underground, with a section through the #RoyalPavilion on the rear wall

In honour of the Queensway Tunnel under the Mersey, which opened on this day in 1934, here's one of the original toll booths. Now rehomed outside the mighty George's Dock ventilation station, built to monitor, and control the air in the tunnel.

#WednesdayMotiviation - The Federal Reserve Building was designed by Franco-American architect Paul Cret. His influence was ancient Egypt. He designed many Stars and Stripes #USArmy, etc., monuments and great buildings that fathered #artdeco. Here's a thread of his work.

#artdeco #architecture #classic #building: French-American architect Paul Clet's work is very impressive. Despite a Beaux-Arts training, I'd say he was more an Egyptian Monumentalist / proto-artdeco architect. Valley of the Kings↖️ vs Clet↗️↙️↘️: 1/
