Watched The Last Dragon (1985) for the first time recently… and it felt like getting snap-kicked straight back to the 80s. Man, I totally get why this one became a cult classic. It’s weird, it’s cheesy, and it’s full of heart. It took me a minute to click with it… but once it did, I was hooked. Still glowing from it days later. “WHO’S THE MASTER?!”

May 21st, 2026 Spotlight Player OTD: Jamaal Magloire 🎂🎉 Happy birthday to the Hornets and Bob Bass’ No. 19 overall selection out of Kentucky in 2000: Magloire was a good rotation player for the last two Charlotte Hornets teams of the 2000’s — but the 6’10 C Magloire was NOT a fan or analyst favorite after the draft was over. With Derrick Coleman and Elden Campbell on the roster already, most deemed it redundant. The addition of PJ Brown a few months later via a trade with the Miami Heat only made the frontcourt depth deeper… The Hornets would send Eddie Jones and others to Miami in return for Jamal Mashburn/Brown (and others) to Charlotte in an, at the time, record-breaking nine-player trade. This only convoluted Magloire’s outlook even more for his rookie year… but it made him better, ultimately. Iron sharpens iron, and there isn’t much sharper iron than having Campbell, Brown, and Coleman in front of you. Magloire used those veterans to help kickstart a 12-year NBA Career; his first five being with the Hornets (last 3 in NOLA). Having good vets around during your early time in the league can truly pay dividends. Magloire’s most memorable play in Charlotte may have been one that didn’t even end up counting in the box score: Here are the newspapers, and a Baron Davis steal on T-Mac leading to an electric Magloire dunk and Coliseum crowd pop right after time expired in 2002’s R1G1 against Orlando:
