La red de alta velocidad ha crecido en 834 kilómetros, hasta llegar a los 3.977 Km y, fruto de ello, el valor total de la infraestructura ha crecido en 2.338 millones, un 15%, pasando de una valoración total de 15.500 a algo menos de 18.000 millones de euros. 2015: 33.302 € de gasto por millón de patrimonio ferroviario. 2024: 27.970 € de gasto por millón de patrimonio ferroviario. Es decir, un 16% menos. Todo ello sin contar el incremento de uso de la infraestructura. La inflación en esos diez años, según el INE, ha crecido un 26,5%. Lo que significa que, sumados los dos factores, la inversión real por millón de patrimonio ferroviario ha bajado nada menos que un 42,5%. The Habsburg Spanish Empire had already achieved this in the 16th century. This is why Emperor Charles V was called "The Planet King" and is often painted holding an orb, representing the entire world.

I love this painting. It's about the Battle of Empel in 1585. The Spaniards were besieged on an island by the Dutch fleet. In a desperate situation, they dug and found an icon of Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception. They prayed overnight and venerated the icon. The next day the water around the island had frozen, immobilising Dutch ships and allowing the Spanish to counter-attack and win.
