Gary here, 12.30 am, it's day zero, day of the transplant. Heather is feeling pretty shit at the moment, Cannula came out, blood everywhere, Doctor fits new one, didn't work, fucking blood everywhere again! Temp is good 36.6! Rash is slowly getting better. Awaiting infusion.

Apart from feeling like a pony visited in the night & kicked my arm I'm OK. Today is officially Day -7, so the chemo cometh. So it's farewell to my hair again & hello baldy. It's also when Gary will say 'shut up Sinead' at every opportunity - Deadpool quote for Marvel fans.

.. cont... They will then start to fix me with all manner of drugs. I will go home very ill but under watch with weekly hospital returns. By 6 months I should start to feel better. Slowly & steadily I will reach the 2 year mark when they will consider me a success. x

Have had the big talk, so here it is... I'm on a 2 year programme to a well me. Mon. is day -7 of chemo, with a following 6 days of same leading to day 0, transplant day. Within 2 weeks I will hit a wall, a wall like nothing I have ever felt before...it will be very, very tough..

... Gary turns around at the roundabout to head back home. I'm so sad, angry, a little frightened, the Dr says he's sorry. I'm so cross that people put their names on a life saving donor list but don't want it to get in the way of their plans! There aren't enough swear words...

Your not going to believe this... half way to Leeds, phone rings, hematology Dr, problem has come up. 2nd Donor needs a pic line fitting for her centre to take cells. She doesn't want to give up her time before Christmas!!!!. S0,,,

IT'S HAPPENING!...Hospital called, donor in place, transplant looks like 20th Dec. So I'll be being admitted to hospital on Thursday 12th, that's next week! Have to go in tomorrow for final bloods, form signing & then it's home to start packing. Our emotions are in overdrive!

Consultant phoned. There's a hiccup with the donor who can't give a donation until early January. So Consultant is trying the other matched donor to see if they can move swifter. Pulling my hair out as cancer can only be held back for so long. Keep your fingers crossed for me x
