For the still photographs in “Aftershocks,” on view at @artsmia, JoAnn Verberg used a large-format vintage camera with a bellows — one of those accordion-like contraptions — that she placed on a tripod, using a dark cloth to compose and focus each image. buff.ly/4gBFDEv
