Ursula von der Leyen has rolled out a "European age verification app" that will force social media users to identify themselves with government-issued ID. This has nothing to do with protecting kids - it’s about control. Your data, your identity, all within reach of EU authorities. This is a massive escalation, pushing Europe closer to open repression, where people are already being punished for what they say and think. I can only say one thing - Thank you God that Serbia isn't part of the EU!

Meanwhile, with Telegram you just have to trust Pavel that nobody can hack their servers or one of their employees won't sell access.

This guy is a fraud. Telegram messages stay unencrypted on their servers all the time. 99%. (Well, encrypted with a hot key they know and use). Easy proof - turn off your phone. Login on another device. Magic, your messages are there! Where do they come from?

@choehau_ara 🤔 Im still on Safari (on my iPhone). The UI from Brave is old school. I can’t be friend w/ that browser tbh even for YouTube. If they modernize the UI im considering. For Youtube there’s Video Lite App. Works amazing as well. (YouTube!)

This is what ads will look like in Apple Maps. They will only appear in search and "suggested places." Apple also says Maps with ads is just as private as Maps without ads, as personal data stays on-device.

@durreadan01 Im somehow confused. Battery 🔋 Amazing. When receiving for example insta message the badge with the message is first empty then the photo of The person appears. This crap is annoying af! On telegram as well! The same crap! When I’m down on 20% of the battery phone lags.

Pavel Durov: “your nudes are safe with us” Let’s talk about what that actually means technically. Telegram does NOT use end to end encryption by default for messaging. Regular chats, groups, and channels all use Telegram’s cloud chat model with client-server encryption. Telegram retains server-side access to message content and media - with keys and data split across jurisdictions rather than stored in one place. The point is: Telegram can access your ordinary chat content. Only “Secret Chats” offer E2E encryption for text and media. These are limited to 1-on-1 conversations, device-specific, and must be manually enabled. Voice and video calls are also E2E encrypted, but groups and channels, where large-scale sharing actually happens - have no E2E option at all. Around the same time Durov posted this: AI Forensics published research covered by AFP and WIRED documenting over 82,000 media files shared across 16 abusive Telegram communities in Spain and Italy over a six-week period. Researchers analyzed 2.8 million messages from more than 24,000 members. The content was mostly sexually explicit, much of it non-consensual, with some involving minors. Telegram’s design appears to enable rapid distribution and persistence of these networks while ordinary chats remain accessible to Telegram itself. Durov was detained in France in 2024 and placed under formal investigation, with judicial supervision imposed as authorities probed alleged criminal activity on the platform. If you actually want to send sensitive media securely, @signalapp supports view-once media that can only be opened a single time before it disappears. Combined with default E2E encryption - the provider never sees the content.
