This is a rental, the house is that old the outdoor toilet is still here, it’s asbestos from top to bottom, the eves are falling off etc etc & yet the condition report by the realestate says it’s in good condition 😳When you apply for it your not told it’s an asbestos house 😶‍🌫️

@AsbestosSafety The government knew its dangers in the 60,70,80 and did nothing. They should now be paying for its removal, disposal, and replacement material. Many have died from asbestos, but little heads have rolled in the government. Next will be crystal-silica, mdf, organic compounds, etc…

@mwindsor777 Hi Michael, the laws differ between states and territories, however it is a legal requirement in all to use a licensed asbestos removalist to remove over 10m2 of non-friable asbestos.

@AsbestosSafety Um.... isn't it a legal requirement that you must use a licensed asbestos removalist? I'm pretty sure it is in SA.

If there's asbestos on a job site, think about working with a licensed asbestos removalist for safe removal and disposal.

@AsbestosSafety Then it's taken to landfill where safety regulations are ignored, a lot of the time ending up broken open and contaminating large areas?

Asbestos waste must be properly wrapped, sealed and labelled for disposal.

@AsbestosSafety I reported an asbestos contamination issue to the EPA and Worksafe (Vic). Neither cared to follow up or investigate. Maybe your education program needs to be focused elsewhere?

@DaperReptilian It is not recommended that you handle or remove asbestos yourself. If you decide to, you need to plan the whole job before you start – from getting equipment and setting up the work area, to clean up and final disposal of waste.
