Umar* Head, Corporate Services, Federal Fire Service Headquarters Date: 31st July 2025 Prior to his appointment as the Controller-General of the Federal Fire Service, effective 14th August 2025, Olumode Samuel Adeyemi, FCNA, FCIA, MBA, ACTI, MDRM, served as the Deputy Controller-General in charge of Administration and Supply the second-highest-ranking officer in the Service. His appointment follows the statutory retirement of the current Controller-General upon attaining the age of 60 after a distinguished career. DCG Olumode began his journey as a frontline firefighter, making it fitting to describe him as a true grassroots fireman. He understands the operational and administrative dimensions of the fire service, having served in various leadership roles across the country: * Kuje Fire Station – Head of Operations (2002–2005) * Mabushi Station – Head of Operations (2005–2010) * FCT Fire Service– Head, Admin & Finance (2010–2019) * Federal Fire Service HQ – Head, Budget & Procurement (2019–2024); DCG Admin & Supply (2024–Present) He began his official Federal Fire Service career as a Controller of Fire in 2020, rose to Assistant Controller-General in 2021, and became Deputy Controller-General in 2024. His academic background reflects both breadth and depth, with credentials earned locally and internationally. These include: * B.Ed. Economics – Ekiti State University, 1999 * MBA (Finance) – 2015 * Diploma in Accounting – Nigerian College of Accounting, 2009 * Master’s in Disaster Risk Management & Development Studies – Federal University of Technology, Minna, 2016 * UK Fire Training (Breathing Apparatus) – Bournemouth University, 2011 Mr. Adeyemi has also benefited from specialized trainings, such as: * UK Fire Training & Command Centre – 2011 * Royal Institute of Public Administration (RIPA), London – 2014 * Strategic Leadership & Ethics – NIPSS, Kuru, 2023 * Firefighting Survival – Dubai, 2019 * Fire Inspection & Code Enforcement – Abuja, 2015 He holds professional memberships and fellowships including: * Associate, Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria (ACTI) * Fellow, Association of Public Procurement Practitioners of Nigeria (APPN) * Fellow, Institute of Taxation and Management (ITMN) * Member, Association of National Accountants of Nigeria (ANAN) * Fellow, Institute of Chartered Accountants (ICA) and Institute of Public Administration of Nigeria (IPAN) Throughout his career, DCG Olumode has shown exceptional discipline, professionalism, and commitment to service. His steady progression through the ranks, from a fireman to the topmost office, is not just a testament to seniority but also to excellence, character, and leadership. In every sense, DCG Olumode Samuel Adeyemi is eminently qualified and well-positioned to lead the Federal Fire Service into its next chapter.
