This is hugely concerning. There are no two ways about this - a real-terms cut to benefits would be a direct cut to support for dying people.  90,000 people already die in poverty each year - this would only make this worse. bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politi…

@BBCRadio2 Steve and team - from a rainy drive back from Cornwall, thanks for the jockin, the factoids, the old woman, Steve's excellent singing and the certificates of muppetry. Drives and office days were better with you as the soundtrack. From Ash and Chiara.xxx

Nearly a million home visits for dying people by hospices last year. Largely funded by your second hand jeans, and your mate running a marathon. This isn't a glamorous part of the health sector. It doesn't get the attention of A&E or cancer. But it's absolutely critical.
Nuffield Trust@NuffieldTrust

🆕 Our analysis of a @hospiceuk survey explores the role of hospice services across the UK. Hospices have adapted to a huge shake-up to end of life care during the pandemic, turning to remote communication and providing more services within people’s homes. nuffieldtrust.org.uk/research/suppo…

We're launching our #DyinginPoverty campaign to support the thousands of people who are pushed into poverty when they’re diagnosed with a terminal illness. Nobody should die in poverty, and we’re calling for change 👇 (1/7)

Proud to have led this important and sobering work. 1 in 4 working age people who die are in poverty at the end of their lives. The fact is that the benefits system is failing to safeguard them against poverty - meaning they spend their last months struggling to make ends meet.
Marie Curie Policy & Public Affairs@MarieCuriePA

Nobody should die in poverty, but that is the case for 90,000 people in the UK every year. ❗️Today Marie Curie is launching ground-breaking new research that reveals the scale of poverty at the end of life in the UK for the first time. mariecurie.org.uk/poverty

The enquiry must be about more than PPE, testing and when to lockdown. There is a real chance to learn so much. Let's no waste it.
