Sam Bell is a goalscorer. A lot of his game is not quite up to the standard. But he is a goalscorer. And that is something that costs money to find.

@RealBristolBoy I would hope/imagine they already know the SD they want and are waiting for his availability and they already know the manager he wants and we have him agreed. Maybe too optimistic but they have proven with Boss and Scudamore to operate quite efficiently in this area.

@BristolCityFM A few years ago I would have said he was doing a great job with the academy. He must get some credit for Semenyo/Scott and also the pathway with Conway, Bell, Pring and O'Leary. Not the same these days it seems.

I think everything points to the end of Brian's time at Bristol City in the very near future. From personal issues to the impending structural changes of a new SD and recruitment department. I will try and remember Brian the player and Brian the co-commentator. To be fair, much as I criticise the bloke and don't particularly like him or the way he goes about things, it is true that he loves this club. I think he's been a dreadful TD and his remit leading recruitment and overseeing the academy has been a litany of errors. Nepotism, personal grudges playing out in the open and a series of unprofessional comments in a public setting. But it's not his fault he's been over-promoted by the same bloke twice. It's not his fault that his boss places more value on friendships than competence. He has done well for himself at the very least. When the time comes, and I do think it's close, I will wish him well. I hope in time we can, as a fanbase, look past his post playing career and value his contribution on the pitch. (And in the comms box, where his support of the young ones was always infectious and enjoyable). It'd be nice if in 10 years or so he's brought onto the pitch to a rendition of "tinman is a shithead". (Someone bring out the make him cry tweet for a "gotcha"...)
