@IMAO_ Years ago, Peter Schramm of the @AshbrookCenter (who immigrated from Hungary) wrote an essay, “Born American, But In the Wrong Place”. He captured that idea pretty well.

First question: Maybe.
Second question: Possibly more so. A lot of native born people are terrible Americans who don’t share the core American beliefs about liberty and awesomeness. I’m sure some Somalis are more American than them.
I think a functional immigration system is making sure everyone we let in is already an American.
And an added bonus would be helping non-Americans born here to leave to a country that better fits them… probably in Europe.

Every politician and political candidate in the country should be asked this question: is a Somali who just got here 5 seconds ago an American? Is he just as American as someone whose family has been here for generations?
