this is what's coming with the new AskEdgar agent. a real query a small-cap trader ran on $OTLK this morning after their FDR win PR dropped: "can you provide the chronological history of this dispute? trying to find out times when OTLK may have gapped down on this news because they released this PR this morning so maybe it's resolved now." the agent ran 2 news searches, 6 price history queries, built a chronological FDA dispute timeline going back to August 2023, mapped each CRL to the corresponding gap-down event, and then did the analytical work: it confirmed both gap-downs stemmed from the same FDA complaint ("insufficient substantial evidence of effectiveness"), confirmed today's FDR reversal addresses that exact deficiency, and flagged 4 risks the PR doesn't address, including a cash position of $7.7M, a float that's expanded from ~30.9M to ~87M+ shares since the gap-downs, and the Class 1 vs Class 2 resubmission downgrade risk. An analyst spends 2-4 hours on this exact workflow. our agent did it in 7.9 seconds.

with the SpaceX IPO inching closer, here's a query worth running: "which sub-$100M market cap companies are most similar to SpaceX based on recent news and filings in the last 6 months?" our agent ran 3 news searches, 3 screener queries, and 2 cross-reference passes, and returned a structured comp table that separates real space-business peers (MNTS, SUUN) from sector-adjacent names (XTIA, ASTC) from above-threshold names already grouped with SpaceX in IPO coverage (FJET, WKEY). this is the work that takes an analyst a full day. our upcoming agent does it in 90 seconds.

you can now backtest dilution risk against every historical gap going back to April 2021. we just released point-in-time dilution ratings. not "here's the risk today," but "here's what AskEdgar's rating WAS the morning of that 200% pump in 2023." cash need at the time. offering ability at the time. shelf capacity at the time. pending S1 at the time. all snapshotted to the exact date of the gap. now every chronic-diluter setup you've ever traded can be checked against what the model would have told you before you sized in. watch:

the shift is real. we've been seeing the same pattern across our customer base. work that used to take weeks of analyst time on dilution, filings, and risk reads is now finished agent runs by the time the analyst gets back from lunch. the finance industry hasn't fully caught up to AI yet. it is catching up now.
Brett Caughran@FundamentEdge

A big pivot from Ken Griffin on AI: “Number one is, in the last few months, there has been a step change in the productivity of the AI toolkit. It is profoundly more powerful than it was just nine months ago. And for us at Citadel, that has allowed us to unleash a much broader array of use cases for AI. And it has been really interesting to watch, to be blunt, work that we would usually do with people with masters and PhDs in finance over the course of weeks or months being done by AI agents over the course of hours or days. These are not these are not mid-tier white collar jobs. These are like extraordinarily high skilled jobs being, I'm going to pick a word, automated by agentic AI. And I gotta tell you, I went home one Friday actually fairly depressed by this because you could just see how this was going to have such a dramatic impact on society. When you witness it in your own four walls, when you see work that used to be man years of work being done in days or weeks, it's like, wow, like that's the first time I've seen real impact in our four walls.” This echoes my own experience with agents and the conversations I am having with students, friends & clients. The toolkit has dramatically transformed and it feels like in finance, for the first time, AI is real.
