Dr. Rebecca Lee Crumpler – America’s First Black Female Physician 🩺 In 1864, Dr. Rebecca Lee Crumpler became the first Black woman to earn a medical degree in the United States. She practiced medicine for formerly enslaved people after the Civil War — in the face of racism, sexism, and violence.
