The IOC asked for a solution. Here it is. Fair and safe eligibility criteria for women’s sport. I hope that this editorial is released as open access soon. onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/full/10.11…

We have just published an invited editorial where we propose sports federations ensure fairness/safety for female athletes by (re)introducing sex-based eligibility rules and screening. Modern genetic testing is quick (cheek swab) and cheap (pennies), and governed by thorough ethical frameworks. Entry to the female category cannot be a matter of gender identity or “passport sex”. onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/epdf/10.11…

The IOC asked for solutions. Here is a paper with a brief description of ours. But it starts by recognizing the purpose of women's sport, and then that it needs protected boundaries that exclude male advantage. Screening then achieves fairness & safety: onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/epdf/10.11…

CORRECTION In today’s IOC – Paris 2024 press briefing, IOC President Bach said: “But I repeat, here, this is not a DSD case, this is about a woman taking part in a women’s competition, and I think I have explained this many times.” What was intended was: “But I repeat, here, this is not a transgender case, this is about a woman taking part in a women’s competition, and I think I have explained this many times.”
