The writer, Nadira Goffe, starts exactly where many people start with our brand. She sees the ads, thinks they're weird, maybe even a little gross. She digs into the Reddit threads, finds the critics, reads the "cute little marketable thing" takes. She does the whole skepticism tour. And that's important. Because she's not writing puff. She's not doing us a favor. She's processing this the way a real person does (similar to how I was processing the start of the article with "oh, no... here we go again). Then something shifts. She's been dealing with chronic illness. IBS that's gotten worse over the years. Doctors, tests, procedures, no real answers. And somewhere in the middle of all that she decides to just buy one. An IBS bun. Almost like a dare to herself. What happens next is the part I love. She takes it to her colonoscopy prep. She squeezes it through the worst of it. She brings it to the medical center, holds it while they take her vitals, tells the nurses "if I cry, just know I don't mean it" while clutching a light-blue stuffed rabbit. She wakes up from anesthesia and it's the first thing she grabs. And by the end she gets it. Not because we told her to. Not because someone to her NOT to. Because she lived it. That journey from "this is weird" to "this lives on my desk now" is exactly what I hope happens. We've never claimed these things are going to cure anything. But the idea that you're not alone, that your experience is real enough to hold in your hands... sometimes that matters more than people expect. She closes the piece by spotting another woman at the medical center holding a plushie of her own. That's not marketing. That's just people finding comfort - and each other - where they can. The official Dreadfuland poster from @OmriKoresh turned out pretty nice! In case you are new here, Dreadfuland is the story I'm writing to define the origin and universe of Plushie Dreadfuls. We hope that this story might be turned into a game, book series, and/or film-TV presentation. This universe overlaps with the one from my "Alice" games - meaning that some events in this story have parallels to some events in "Madness Returns" but in a way that doesn't tread into the legal danger zone. That being said, this is NOT an "Alice" story - it is the story of a boy and the Plushie Dreadfuls.
