"I said to Curt Flood, unless some miracle takes place and the Supreme Court reverses itself, you're not going to win. And Curt, to his everlasting credit said: 'But would it benefit all the other players and future players?' And I said, 'Yes.' And he said, 'That's good enough for me`" Marvin Miller. "I lost money, coaching jobs, a shot at the Hall of Fame. But when you weigh that against all the things that are really and truly important, the things that are deep inside you, then I think I've succeeded." Curt Flood. In 1994, Curt Flood wrote to friends in a Christmas letter that year.... "I am in the process of living happily ever after." Curt Flood and his wife, Judy Pace Flood and Rosa Parks, 1994. Curt Flood Autographed Baseball. "To Curt Flood Rosa Parks" In my HOF!!!!!!

UCLA didn’t get the win but that was a gutsy performance. Bruins are better off not playing tomorrow so they can recover. If they are healthy they will be dangerous in the tourney.

24 yrs ago Mar 12: Boxing writer Phil Berger passes away at age 58. The boxing writer for the @nytimes from 1985-92, Berger collaborated with @LarryHolmes75 & Joe Frazier on autobiographies & authored “Blood Season,” the excellent “Punch Lines” & screenplay for “Price of Glory.”

What do you think about a location section for the Basketball Hall of Fame to recognize arenas and courts that had a big impact on the game? Rucker Park The old Boston Garden Fonde Rec. Center The Palestra Etc.

Today is the 55th Anniversary of the greatest sports event of the 20th Century, Ali-Frazier 1 at Madison Square Garden. Nothing has ever come close to the buildup and anticipation in American sports history. 1st ever match up of 2 Undefeated Heavyweight Champions.

55 yrs ago Mar 8: Joe Frazier outpoints @MuhammadAli over 15, retains world heavyweight title, @TheGarden NYC. In most anticipated fight in boxing history, undefeated superstars produce epic masterpiece, with Frazier’s fearsome left hook decking Ali in final round to clinch it.

55 years ago today, THE FIGHT OF THE CENTURY, Ali vs. Frazier I. There has never been another fight pitting two great, undefeated Heavyweight Champions like this one. It lived up to the hype. Frank Sinatra couldn't get a ticket, so he worked for LIFE as a photographer.

Ten years ago today. Cannot recall another press conference with assigned seating. This was a big one.
