Greetings Polkadot Community, We are proud to announce that AssetPortal is officially ON CHAIN! 🎉 After a long journey filled with learning, challenges, and tough decisions, we can finally share that our dApp is live and available. This marks the completion of MILESTONE I and the beginning of a new chapter in our journey. We want to share with you how this process unfolded, what drove us forward, and where we are headed next. 🧭 Context and Development Process From the start, our goal was to build something aligned with Polkadot’s ecosystem vision and growth. When our proposal was approved, we began with great enthusiasm, but soon encountered multiple obstacles. One of the biggest was token volatility, which impacted our operations more than anticipated. Faced with this, we decided to respect our commitment to the community: Do not request a top-up. Instead, we adapted, reorganized, and moved forward with what we had—always prioritizing product delivery and honor our word. Additionally, some team members faced difficult personal situations. These moments were challenging and affected our timelines, yet our focus and commitment remained intact. We knew that although the delivery might be delayed, the value of what we were building justified the wait. Every one of us stayed committed to delivering the best possible application. Near the estimated delivery date, the OG Tracker team reached out for an update on timelines and project status. We explained the situation and requested a three-month extension, which was granted until June 1st. And we delivered! On May 31st, with great excitement, we officially announced that AssetPortal was live on-chain ❤️ During this process, we saw incredible tools being developed by other teams. This led us to make another major decision: to rebuild our dApp from scratch by integrating these ecosystem innovations. It wasn’t part of our initial plan nor promised in our proposal, but we understood that this was the best path for long-term success and delivering the highest-quality product. Team formally apologizes for the delays in delivery. ⚙️ Technical Details of the Platform As mentioned earlier, the project was rebuilt from the ground up to ensure future scalability. In this process, we migrated from Polkadot.js to Polkadot API (PAPI)—a key decision that allowed us to leverage new capabilities and establish a stronger foundation for platform growth. For AssetPortal’s development, we utilized Polkadot API (PAPI), leveraging its light client and the superior developer experience it offers. Additionally, we integrated @paraspell to facilitate XCM-related operations. Both libraries proved to be outstanding, and we highly recommend that all teams in the ecosystem explore and adopt them into their own projects. Special mention to PAPI team: @voliva_v @Joseptec @carlosala22 We were optimistic with our timelines, but as many in tech—especially in crypto—know, we sometimes get so excited about what we want to build that we forget that beyond programming, life happens, and unforeseen circumstances can cause delays. We take full responsibility for this and encourage other teams to learn from our mistakes: when submitting a proposal, always include a time buffer to account for unexpected situations. Lastly, we are currently reviewing code details and adding documentation before opening the repositories, as AssetPortal is an open-source project. Our goal is for any community member to suggest improvements, contribute, or even fork the code. We look forward to your contributions and feedback! 🚀 What’s Next? Now that the platform is live, we invite you all to explore it, test it, and share your thoughts. Community feedback is essential for continuous improvement. For comments, suggestions, or reports, feel free to reach us at: assethubportal@gmail.com With MILESTONE I completed, here’s how we’ll proceed in 2025: The focus will be on support and maintenance. We will not submit new proposals to governance or seek funding through bounties or similar mechanisms. 🛠 Milestone II is planned for 2026, but until then, our team will continue operating entirely for free until the end of 2025. While our team will be downsized to a minimum, we remain fully committed to development and to the community that has placed its trust in us. 💬 Closing Thoughts We are proud of the work accomplished and hope you are too! We will continue striving to improve the platform and deliver the best possible product to you all. We extend our gratitude to everyone who supported us, to all the teams whose innovations we incorporated into AssetPortal, and to those who provided feedback or collaborated with us. We are also open to collaborating with other teams and ecosystem Agents! Asset Portal link: Assetportal.io

USDT will not longer be supported on Kusama starting September 1,  2025. USDT on Kusama will be frozen and inaccessible if you do not redeem or migrate before the deadline! Please take action now, such as transferring your holdings to @Polkadot using trusted bridges from the ecosystem.

Stablecoins are moving more money than Visa + Mastercard but still make up just 1% of global money. They’re already powering payments, payroll, remittances, and more. What’s next? Better UX. Better rails. Adoption. The new financial default is programmable. Not fiat.

Moving from “changing the world” to “finding product-market fit” x.com/GwartyGwart/st…
Gwart@GwartyGwart

This is why, paradoxically, I’m almost sympathetic to people who cannot wrap their minds around the “revenue meta.” Not because these people are correct that it’s just a “meta”, they are very wrong and always have been, but because the first 10 years of crypto managed to completely nerdsnipe and indoctrinate so many in this industry into just writing open source code and assuming you’d capture value for ~reasons~ and the worst part was that it was *mainly true* for those 10 years, in other words, there was a positive feedback loop where these tokens *did* go up in value so people assumed they were on the right track, surely something wouldn’t go up in value if it was valueless. This was the wrong take away and now we reckon with the ramifications of this The fat protocol thesis brainfucked so many people into building infrastructure with no real path to a defensible moat or monetization and we are having to undo this insidious plague in real time. The whole “public goods” funding worked in the literal sense that it provided a lot of infra (even tho most of that infra is actually being siloed/ customized at this point), that part is probably true, but public goods *definitionally* do not make money, they are projects that would not be funded because because there is no financial incentive to do so. And a lot of god forsaken analogies were drawn to early OSS investment outside of crypto like red hat, mongodb, gitlab etc, but the strategy there to be very clear, was to write OSS and *then* sell it as SaaS like custom Linux or GitHub or database solutions / integrations / whatever. It wasn’t just hacking on a token and calling it a day which is what we did in crypto. And sure “building the infra first and then monetizing with the apps atop it later” is a reasonable strategy and has precedent in trad tech where acquiring users / building network effects before focusing on revenue later has worked well but this isn’t the same. Everyone was forced to hawk tokens that have a dubious value prop and people are realizing this now. The point though is we should be kind to, or at least understand, people who were deep in the sauce between 2016 to ~2023 who bought into this drivel, it was powerful and convincing to many and it made people feel like they were doing something different to make the world a better place and I at least understand why the idea of a project *actually* needing to make money is sort of jarring if you were brought up in this church

Paseo is moving to Polkadot Hub 🚄 The system supports live migration, allowing components to shift without disruption You've probably never seen anything like this before💫 @PaseoNetwork @Polkadot x.com/alice_und_bob/…
Alice und Bob@alice_und_bob

Polkadot Hub testnet launch today The Polkadot testnet Paseo (@PaseoNetwork) will perform its migration to Hub today! This migration is an industry-first stunt, because we are migrating staking and governance and the native DOT chain to another chain, WHILE EVERYTHING RUNS! It's a complex migration and so devs need to watch lots of things at the same time. The data gathered during today's migration will help us see if everything is ready for the Kusama and Polkadot migrations next.
