The zodiac changes only when the lunar new year begins, and that date shifts each year.. usually between late January and mid-February. If you were born before the lunar new year started in your birth year, your sign belongs to the previous zodiac year. Example: A person born on January 3, 1989 is not a Snake. The lunar new year in 1989 began on February 6. Since the birthdate is before that cutoff, the correct sign is the Dragon. Always check the exact lunar new year start date for the year you were born to determine your accurate zodiac sign.
