@freedomfeens @erfmufn Yes. They have the right budgets to do so 🤓😂

@AstroTanja @erfmufn very nice.
Not a lot of people own that other one. Usually universities, governments, etc.

@Spicey_Spiney I’m trying to finish reading the book so I can go see the movie on Sunday 🤙🫶

Amaze amaze amaze! I have been so excited to see #ProjectHailMary for so long that I was nervous I would be disappointed when I finally saw it but I absolutely loved it! The film and the score was also brilliant. If you can get the cinema to see it, please do🥰

@freedomfeens @erfmufn My takeaway ‘real astronomers shoot in mono’ 🤓🤙 @erfmufn
Yip RASA not on my wishlist now.
Redcat 61 will have to do for now.
But the ❤️ for my Officina Stellare is very real. That baby is with me for life. But it’s only 500mm with the reducer/flattener

@AstroTanja cool thing about the Edge HD series is they can be used at 2000 mm plus, but also can be used really fast with the camera on the FRONT of the scope
for ultra-fast focal ratios like f/2 or faster with the Starizona HyperStar

@freedomfeens @erfmufn No I don’t. Hyperstar was 1st to go. The C11 we actually traded up for a 14” which Cory ended up using for planetary work.
Sold that when we moved to the US.
The EdgeHD is what’s on my list, but I needed to make sure I wasn’t missing anything.
English

@AstroTanja @erfmufn Do you still have it? Do you still have the C11 ?
Either way, to get really high focal lengths, you're going to need to go some type of reflector unless you want to spend 20k dollars and have a lower speed with a refractor.

@willardsharpwx This has been in my list to check out as MW season approaches- not too far from where I’m at. Curious to see what you get done there

@erfmufn Optimum’s Serious Mass packs a whack load of calories along with protein. You know, for when you can’t stomach those donuts 🍩 anymore.

Too soon?

My pre-surgery doctor’s orders are #1. Do a 5km fast walk every day and #2. Put on as much weight as you can. So I’m jogging to the local Krispy Kreme, seriously. 🍩

Soon, a surgeon will cut my stomach out because of the cancer. So for the rest of my life, if I don’t want to do something, I can say “I really don’t have the stomach for this.” ✂️
English

@erfmufn I admire your resilience, your openness in sharing this, and the strength it takes to face it. Much respect. You’re such a pivotal part of what holds the community together, keeping people connected and inspiring others.

Shakedown cruise for my 6" f/9 Ritchey-Chretien telescope last night. Was able to get 5.25 hours on M81 in LRGB+Ha with an ASI533MM Pro camera. More info on Astrobin: app.astrobin.com/u/PhotonPhanat…

This doco was so funny. None of these macho tossers realise how many ladies they’ll pull by polar aligning without a pole star, and getting solid, sub arc-second guiding. Total betas! 🔭

I edit in PixInsight, all the way up to channel combination when I do SHO. I find that taking it to photoshop provides better control and non-destructive of the original data.
Saying that / I did SCNR on my stars.
I only take star-removed for colorism g in Photoshop. So yes, they can prob do with SCNR but I didn’t think of it since it’s not RGB.
But, saying all this, I was just thinking to do an edit full on in pixinsight and seeing what the results are
English

@AstroTanja I like it a lot, if you edited with pix did you try removing a little green with SNR? Try it but without stars and a mask in the nebula to protect the bottom of the sky, is my humble opinion.
English

@AstroTanja Looks good! Maybe blues are a bit oversaturated relative to other colors, that's why it looks a bit synthetic? Balancing that seems to improve things:

English

@astrojuanan Thank you. 🙏 appreciate the reply - helps guide me in SHO where I don’t have enough experience

English

@AstroTanja The image really looks very good, maybe the blue is somewhat saturated but I like it, what may confuse you is the background of the sky, from my tlf I see it very black if you raised it a little it would not look so artificial either, it is my humble opinion ( thousand apologies)
English

Proud mother moment.
Sienna (14) shared these 2 YouTube links with me to watch. Her own curiosity about space - not promoted by me. And she watched them twice.
