Rate dispersion can originate from both homogeneous and heterogeneous systems, we can identify it.
We have proposed Two-dimensional Fluorescence Correlation Spectroscopy (2D-FCS) using simulated fluctuations. Experimental demonstration shall follow soon.

How to differentiate among two samples having similar rate-dispersion (distribution of rates) in translational diffusion originating from different underlying mechanisms? We have distinguished heterogeneous from homogeneous using 2D correlation analysis (simulated 2D-FCS).
