Introducing atari-hd v0.1.0: build Atari ST hard-disk images without the rabbit hole Setting up a hard disk on a real Atari ST has always been a multi-evening project. Tutorials are scattered, the drivers (AHDI, PPDRIVER, HDDRIVER) live in different corners of the internet, every format has its own partition-table quirks, and one wrong byte in the boot sector leaves the ST refusing to recognise the disk. atari-hd cuts through all of that. One command, a few prompts, and you get a working .img you can drop on a microSD or feed straight to your favourite emulator. The terminal UI walks you through size, format, partitions, and bootable mode in plain language; the CLI gives you the same flow in a single line for scripted runs. The output is validated against real ICDFMT and PPTOSDOS reference disks, so the bytes match what an actual Atari setup tool would have written. Drop the image into Hatari, STeem, SidecarTridge Multi-device, ACSI2STM, or SatanDisk, or write it to a microSD or CF card and boot a real machine off it. Python 3.10+, stdlib only, no pip install, no external binaries. Runs on macOS, Linux, and Windows, and installs with one shell or PowerShell line. Big update for the Drives Emulator microfirmware We have shipped a fresh release for the SidecarTridge Multi-device Drives Emulator, and it brings two features the community has been asking for. First, real ACSI hard-disk emulation at the BIOS level. Your Atari ST sees a normal ACSI bus, and the emulator can boot and read partitions written by AHDI, PPDRIVER, and HDDRIVER. Build the image with the new atari-hd companion tool, drop it on the microSD, and your ST treats it like a stock hard drive. Second, runtime floppy A: image cycling, finally. Slot 1 stays as your normal [A] drive. Slots 2 to 10 are configured from the setup menu under [CTRL+A] and stored in flash, so the list survives power cycles. While the emulator is running, a short press on SELECT cycles A: to the next configured slot, empty slots are skipped automatically, after the last slot it wraps back to slot 1, and the Pico W LED flashes the active slot number so you can see which image just dropped in. Ok so that last neo geo 4 slot I fixed had issues with the adpcm sound on slot 3 and 4, asked @leo__oliveira and he told me to look for a blown trace. After using a pinout from neo dev wiki, tested all the inputs and output found pin 29 of neo-244 at E2 was not connected.
