Chickens don’t change lives. But what they represent can. With funding from Schmitz Stiftungen and support from African Women for Empowerment (AWE), Atem Foundation has delivered poultry farming starter packs to displaced families and host community members in Ukende settlement. These aren’t just birds. They’re small beginnings with big futures. A chance to rebuild, earn with dignity, and put food on the table, not just today, but sustainably. We’re not handing out aid. We’re investing in livelihoods. #AtemFoundation #LivelihoodRecovery #EmpoweredCommunities 👉 For more info on the work we do, visit: atemfoundation.org

Ogoja Free Tech Explorers Summer Boot Camp Growing Skills, Not Exploiting Children This summer, Atem Foundation and IVOGDEV are teaming up to give children and teenagers (ages 8–18) in Ogoja a chance to dive into the world of tech at no cost. From coding to graphic design, and solar installation basics to Microsoft tools, these young explorers are learning real-life digital skills in a fun, safe, and age-appropriate environment. No child should be burdened with labour. This is about unlocking potential, not productivity. Play, learn, and build confidence: that’s the mission. Together, we’re shaping a future where tech is not a privilege, but a right. #DigitalSkillsForYouth #AtemFoundation #ChildhoodEmpowerment For more info on the work we do, visit: atemfoundation.org

Infrastructure that empowers. The journey from training to transformation is rarely possible without one thing: space. We’re proud to announce the completion of 3 poultry pens and 3 brooding pens in Ukende refugee settlement, built under the “Food Security, Nutrition, and Livelihood Development through Sustainable Agriculture” project funded by Scmitz Stiftungen (@schmitz_ngo) and supported by African Women for Empowerment, AWE e.V. (@awe_ev). These structures will house not just chickens, but potential—offering the women and youth we serve a chance to raise birds, grow businesses, and feed their families in dignity. At the Atem Foundation for the less privileged, we don’t just build projects. We build capacity. And we build it to last. #SustainableAgriculture #FoodSecurity #AtemFoundation For more info on the work we do, visit: atemfoundation.org

Building Livelihoods. One Poultry Pen at a Time. At Ukende refugee settlement, construction is underway, and it’s not just bricks and timber. It’s stability. Income. Dignity. As part of our Food Security, Nutrition, and Livelihood Development through Sustainable Agriculture project, we’ve begun building poultry pens for refugees and host community members to kickstart sustainable poultry farming. Supported by Schmitz Stiftungen through African Women for Empowerment (AWE) e.V. and implemented by the Atem Foundation for the Less Privileged, this project aims to equip vulnerable individuals, especially women and youth, with the tools to reclaim their economic future. Progress is visible. Impact is certain. Livelihoods are being shaped, one structure at a time. #SustainableLivelihoods #PoultryEmpowerment #AtemFoundation For more info on the work we do, visit: atemfoundation.org @schmitz_ngo @awe_ev

ANOVTECH Launches in Adagom 3 Today, for the very first time, refugee children in Adagom 3 opened Chromebooks and explored a world previously out of reach. We didn’t start with coding. We started with confidence. With patience and joy, our team introduced them to the basics, identifying Chromebook parts, understanding utility icons, and navigating the home screen. Some were nervous. Some were thrilled. All were engaged. This is more than digital access. It’s digital inclusion, starting at square one, with care. ANOVTECH is not just a project. It’s a bridge. From left behind to brought along. #ANOVTECH #DigitalInclusion #AtemFoundation For more info on the work we do and how you can support our work, visit: 🔗 atemfoundation.org

ANOVTECH Continues in Adagom 1 refugee settlement, Ogoja, Nigeria. No first-day jitters. No wide-eyed hesitation. Just familiar faces, tapping keys with purpose. This isn’t the start; it’s the becoming. Today in Adagom 1 refugee settlement, our ANOVTECH sessions resumed, not with introduction, but with immersion. Children who once asked, “What is this?” now ask, “What next?” They opened Chromebooks like doors, searching, navigating, learning. They’re not visitors in the digital world anymore. They’re citizens. ANOVTECH isn’t a one-day splash. It’s steady. It’s consistent. It’s showing up until knowledge becomes second nature. Because access without continuity is a missed opportunity. #ANOVTECH #DigitalAccessMatters #AtemFoundation 👉 For more info on the work we do, visit: atemfoundation.org

Seasonal Vaccination timing TIMING IS EVERYTHING IN POULTRY HEALTH In rural poultry production, most outbreaks are seasonal, but they’re never gentle. At ATEM Foundation, we train farmers to act before the season shifts, not after losses begin. Here’s why timing matters: 1.) Before the rainy season – vaccinate early against Newcastle disease, fowl cholera, and wet litter infections. 2.) Before the dry season – guard flocks from dust-triggered respiratory diseases and heat stress. 3.) Avoid emergency treatments – they cost more, work less, and come too late. Seasonal vaccination isn’t just prevention, it’s planning. It protects flocks. It protects income. It protects futures. A healthy bird doesn’t happen by luck. It happens by preparation. #AtemFoundation #PoultryEmpowerment #FoodSecurity

🌍 From Silent Struggles to Tangible Progress: Our June Story In June 2025, Atem Foundation walked alongside displaced communities through the power of action and solidarity. Each day unfolded a new page of resilience, from digital dreams taking root in remote settlements to quiet classrooms slowly coming back to life. At the heart of it all was World Refugee Day, where we honored not just displacement, but courage. We lit the path forward with education through the Access to Innovative Technology (ANOVTECH) Project, and restored dignity through sustainable poultry farming in Ukende. We supported those who support others by providing essential tools like a desktop computer to the Ogoja Police Division, and took steps to improve our capacity to respond to GBV-related issues by participating in the 'Survivor centered GBV response' training organized by @CCFNigeria. We dared to imagine more: a library for the left behind, concept notes to fight child labour, and honest conversations with government partners at SEMA. Behind the scenes, we worked to find funding, because hope without resources is a promise half-kept. 📬 Dive into the full newsletter and witness the month’s quiet victories: 👉 shorturl.at/n9kdG #RefugeeSupport #CommunityEmpowerment #AtemFoundation For more info on the work we do, visit: atemfoundation.org

Raising broiler chickens goes beyond feeding homes, it builds skills, strengthens livelihoods, and contributes to long term food security. As part of our poultry empowerment program, refugee and host beneficiaries are trained to understand the six stages of the broiler chicken life cycle: 1️⃣ Egg Stage: Fertile eggs are selected and placed in an incubator under the right conditions. 2️⃣ Hatch Stage: After 21 days, chicks hatch and are moved to the brooder. 3️⃣ Brooding Stage: Chicks need warmth, vaccination, clean water, and starter feed to survive and grow. 4️⃣ Growing Stage: The chicks gain weight quickly. Proper feeding and hygiene are essential. 5️⃣ Finishing Stage: Birds reach full market size with finisher feed and routine health checks. 6️⃣ Harvesting Stage: Fully grown birds are sold or consumed, providing income, nutrition, or both. Each stage matters and every trained farmer is one step closer to self-reliance. We empower poultry farming not just for business, but for better living. When people understand the process, they manage poultry like a livelihood not a guesswork. #FoodSecurity #PoultryEmpowerment #AtemFoundation

Building Strong Foundations in Poultry: Brooding Fundamentals in Broilers. @Atem_Foundation ongoing training for refugees and host community members in Ukende Refugee Settlement, Ogoja, Cross River State, on poultry farming as a pathway to food security, nutrition, and livelihood development. With funding from Schmitz-Stiftungen (@schmitz_ngo) through African Women for Empowerment (@awe_ev ) and implemented by @Atem_Foundation the project is equipping participants with practical agricultural skills to build resilience and self-reliance. Today is focused on one of the most critical stages in poultry production — Brooding fundamentals in broilers. During this phase, participants are been taught on how to provide warmth, clean water, proper feeding, and a healthy environment to ensure young chicks develop into strong, productive birds. A successful brooding period means fewer losses, healthier poultry, and better returns for farmers. For communities facing displacement and limited opportunities, knowledge like this can be life-changing. Atem Foundation remains committed to restoring dignity through sustainable agriculture and empowering vulnerable populations with skills that last a lifetime. ANOVTECH Reaches Ukende No loud speeches. No staged celebrations. Just children… gathered under a shelter, eyes wide, hands steady on a Chromebook for the first time. Today, ATEM Foundation brought ANOVTECH to Ukende refugee settlement the second of three in Ogoja. Here, education is often stripped to the bare minimum. But today, something changed. We didn’t come to donate gadgets. We came to unlock access. To turn empty corners into digital classrooms where learning feels possible again. This is what it means to challenge digital exclusion not in theory, but in practice. One settlement at a time. #ANOVTECH #DigitalAccessMatters #AtemFoundation

In line with its ongoing commitment to community empowerment and service, @Atem_Foundation has donated a desktop computer and printer to the Police Division of Ogoja Local Government. We recognize that strengthening public institutions—especially those at the frontline of peace and security—is essential to building a more just and functional society. This gesture is part of our broader mission to support not just individuals, but the systems that serve them. To every officer working under limited resources: we see you, we stand with you, and we support your work. #AtemFoundation #CommunitySupport #OgojaDevelopment

Today, we launched ANOVTECH. In a corner of the world where digital access is nearly nonexistent, hope just got powered on—one Chromebook at a time. ANOVTECH (Access to Innovative Tech Solutions) officially kicked off today in Ogoja, Cross River State. Led by @Atem_Foundation , this project is designed to equip displaced and underserved children with one-to-one access to Chromebooks, and supported by digital literacy education. From makeshift tents to digital classrooms—ANOVTECH is not just about technology. It’s about giving forgotten children a future where they’re no longer left behind. Today, we didn’t just open a project—we opened a door. #ANOVTECH #DigitalAccessMatters #AtemFoundation

Today is World Refugee Day A day to stand in solidarity with the millions who have been forced to flee their homes due to conflict, disaster, or persecution. Refugees are not strangers. They are families, dreamers, builders-people just like us, seeking safety and a chance to live in peace. This year's theme, "Solidarity with Refugees," reminds us that standing with them means more than words-it means action, compassion, and shared humanity. Let's build a world where inclusion is the norm, not the exception. No walls of discrimination. Only bridges of belonging. Together, we rise. #WorldRefugeeDay #SolidarityWithRefugees #InclusionMatters

World Refugee Day 2025 - Abuja Today, we joined voices, steps, and hearts in Abuja to honor the strength, courage, and resilience of refugees. This year's theme, "Solidarity with Refugees," reminds us that real support means standing with displaced families-not just today, but every day. Atem Foundation proudly supported the celebration rally by providing bottled water to participants-because even the smallest act of care can carry deep meaning when done in unity. Let's keep building a world where no one is left behind. Where compassion leads, and inclusion becomes the standard. #WorldRefugeeDay #SolidarityWithRefugees #AtemFoundation

Best Practice Highlight: Clean Coops, Stronger Livelihoods Keeping poultry coops clean isn’t just about hygiene it’s about survival, growth, and opportunity. As part of @Atem_Foundation commitment to improving food security, nutrition, and income for vulnerable communities, we are equipping refugees and host community members in Ukende with the knowledge to maintain safe and sanitary poultry environments. Through hands-on training, participants are learning to remove waste daily, use safe disinfectants, keep bedding dry, and ensure proper ventilation. These simple but powerful steps reduce disease, prevent bird loss, and lead to stronger, healthier flocks—resulting in better meat quality, and greater income for families. This activity is proudly led by @Atem_Foundation , with generous support from Schmitz-Stiftungen (@schmitz_ngo) and African Women for Empowerment (@awe_ev) partners committed to creating lasting, community-driven solutions. Together, we are helping families build resilience, one clean chicken coop at a time. #AtemFoundation #FoodSecurity #LivelihoodSupport

MODULE HIGHLIGHT: Understanding Feed Ratios in Poultry Farming. As part of @Atem_Foundation Poultry Farming Training Program for refugees and host community members at the Ukende Refugee Settlement in Ogoja,Cross River State, Nigeria. @Atem_Foundation recently introduced participants to one of the most essential concepts in sustainable poultry production which is feed ratios. The participants are learning the theoretical concepts of feed ratio, the different types of birds and their feeding requirements, the stages of growth and nutritional needs, how to calculate their daily feed intake, understanding efficiency (feed conversion ratio) and as well linking feed to profitability. By learning how to measure and manage poultry feed properly, trainees can: raise healthier birds, produce more eggs or meat, spend less on feed, sell birds to generate income, and build resilient households and communities. For many refugee families, food is scarce and income opportunities are limited. Understanding feed ratios is not just about science, it's about economic empowerment. With funding support from Schmitz-Stiftungen(@schmitz_ngo) and in partnership with African Women for Empowerment ( @awe_ev ), and implemented by @Atem_Foundation to equip the less privileged generate income, livelihood, financial stability and economic empowerment. Together, we are not just feeding people,we are building knowledge, dignity, and long-term solutions. #AtemFoundation#LivelihoodDevelopment #ResilienceBuilding
