May 16: Chick-fil-A 5K/10K: Starts on Square at 6am: Routes impact Marion, Washington, Lucas Ferry, Quinn, W. Hobbs, Bullington, Hine & back to Square

May 15: Marion St from Washington to Market will be closed from 3-10PM for Athens Limestone Hospital's Community Movie Night. Westbound lane of Washington St between Marion and Jefferson will also be closed for food trucks.

May 14: From Water Services: Line blow out at temporary booster pump: Repair made: Customers may have a lower pressure temporarily.

May 13: Gas Dept will close the north bound lane of S. Madison St. tomorrow morning, 5/14, between W. Market St. & W. Washington St.

May 13: Wastewater Collection crews plan to resume sewer smoke testing on Thursday 5/14. The testing will take place around Athens State, Clinton St, Hobbs St, Washington St E

May 12: Eastside of the Courthouse will be blocked from 4:30-10PM tonight. Mariom from Washington to Market will be closed for the Limestone County Sheriff’s Rodeo Street Dance.

May 9: Street Dept will close Pryor St. from Thomas St. to Shaw St. Monday, May 11. They will work around school bus routes.

May 7: Street Dept will have Browns Ferry Rd, from from Hine St to Highland St, closed Friday 5/8/2026 from 9AM to 2PM.

May 7: Gas Dept has the turning lane on Lucas Ferry Rd and Highway 72 closed until around 4PM this evening.

May 7: Street and Utilities has Nuclear Plant Rd, between Page and Lucas Ferry Rd, closed to take down a large tree struck by lightning. They hope to have the road back open for afternoon school traffic.

May 6: Athens Utilities responding to outages in the West Limestone area between Elk River and Alabama 99.

May 5: Street Dept. has Hine Street between Fifth and Elm closed today: Will reopen for school traffic this afternoon.

May 4: Wastewater Collection plan to resume sewer smoke testing on May 5. The testing will take place in: Lakewood (Crutcher St Area), Hine St N, South of Elm St, North of Aycock St, West of Jefferson St. Testing should take 2-3 weeks to complete.

May 4: Water Services performing required electrical upgrades at booster pump station: Take 30 days: Customers may experience temporary drops in water pressure.

May 1: Street Dept. has Hine St. between Fifth and Elm closed today.

April 29: Street Dept to close N Hines tomorrow, April 30, for utility cut repairs. Will likely be all day and possibly into Friday. Detour thru Crutcher Cir.

April 29: Marion St between Market and Washington will be blocked off tonight from 5-8PM for National Fentanyl Awareness Day event.

April 28:South bound lanes on US HWY 31 South of Elm St are closed for Dept of Transportation Work.

April 28: Power restored to most customers: Crews still working scattered outages: Some areas impacted by falling trees or scattered lightning induced outages.

April 28: Athens Utilities is working on scattered outages in Limestone County, including areas of West Limestone & SE Limestone.
